RADDEC Hyperbaric Oxidiser
As parts of its continuing R&D programme Raddec Ltd will release (early 2012) a complementary system for extraction of 3H and 14C specifically designed for combustible samples arising from the environmental and nuclear sectors.
The Hyperbaric Oxidiser (HBO) represents a significant refinement of earlier technologies that had largely disappeared from the marketplace.
• Uses closed-system oxidative combustion to promote the rapid and complete oxidation of combustible samples (oxygen at ~30 Bar).
• Employs a 5 litre heavy gauge stainless steel pressure vessel fitted with a hinged door to enable easy loading of samples.
• Incorporates a novel door locking mechanism with three safety interlocks.
• Incorporates a range of temperature and pressure sensors that are integrated into a software monitoring system (National Instruments LabVIEW) to log the combustion process.
• Causes complete combustion in approximately one minute after which the integrated gas handling / collection system, with vacuum purge, collects water and CO2 into separate traps.
• Ensures the very rapid and effective combustion of a wide range of combustible samples including oil, rubbers, plastics, paper, wood, vegetation, wet fish, sea-weed etc with sample sizes as large as 40g.
• Permits the water generated to be used for for tritium analysis by LSC or 3He in-growth mass spectrometry.
